Ryota Fujiguchi

展示会場である旧本間酒造（前橋市総社町）では、かつて「惣嬉」という銘柄の日本酒が作られていた。惣社町の人々が、また惣ての人々が嬉ぶお酒になるように、という想いが込められていたのだろう。私はその名称を聞いた時、そこから溢れてしまうアルコール依存症の人々のことを思った。理解を深めるために、前橋の自助グループが主催するオープンミーティングに参加させてもらった。一人ずつ経験を語り、そして他者の声に耳を傾けるという「分かち合い」を行うことは、飲酒を止める手助けになるという。日本酒が生み出されていた酒蔵において、ミーティングの開催と、その録音を依頼したところ、匿名を条件に快く引き受けてくれた。彼らの分かち合う声とナラティブの録音は、不可視な彼らの存在を酒蔵に浮かび上がらせ、避けたくても逃れられない存在との共存について観客に問いかける。

The exhibition venue, the former Honma Sake Brewery (Soja-machi, Maebashi-city), used to make a brand of sake called "Sou Ureshi". The name "Sou Ureshi" must have been intended to make the people of Souja-machi and the people of happy. When I heard the name, I thought of the alcoholics who would overflow from it. To deepen my understanding, I was invited to attend an open meeting organized by a self-help group in Maebashi. They said that sharing one's experience at a time and listening to the voices of others can help people to stop drinking. When we asked them to hold the meeting and record it at the brewery where the sake was produced, they graciously agreed on the condition of anonymity. The recording of their shared voices and narratives brings their invisible presence to life in the brewery and asks the audience to question their coexistence with an existence they wish to avoid but cannot escape.
