Ryota Fujiguchi

『すみません、録音中です、静かにしてください』 この言葉は、私が録音する際によく発する言葉である。録音すべき音を、明瞭に録音するために、マイクが向いた先にある音以外の音をすべて止める。マイクという権威を前に静寂を強いられたとき、それまで気にならなかった音、聞こえなかった音が聞こえてくるようになる。空調や冷蔵庫の音、離れた工事現場の音、衣擦れ、腹鳴、呼吸、心拍、血流。

この録音行為が持つ逆説的な体験を元に、本パフォーマンスでは、会期中、開館から閉館まで定点録音と再生を絶えず行う。観客がヘッドホンを手に取ると、マイクが収音している〈現在〉の音が、私のボリュームフェーダーの操作により、徐々に増幅され、聞こえてくる。それに続いて、会期初日から前日まで録音／蓄積し続けた〈過去〉の同時刻の音を重ねる。

“Sorry, recording now. Silence, please.” This is a phrase I often utter when recording. To capture the intended sound clearly, I silence all other sounds except those directed toward the microphone. When forced into silence before the authority of the microphone, sounds previously unnoticed or inaudible become audible: air conditioning, refrigerators, distant construction sites, the rustle of clothing, stomach rumbling, breathing, heartbeats, blood flow.

Based on this paradoxical experience inherent in recording, this performance continuously conducts fixed-point recording and playback from opening to closing throughout the exhibition period. When an audience member picks up the headphones, the sound of the present moment being captured by the microphone gradually amplifies through my volume fader operation and becomes audible. Following this, the sound from the same time period recorded and accumulated from the first day of the exhibition until the day before is layered on top.
